Privacy Policy and Cookie Usage in the Websites of the University of Warsaw

The University of Warsaw attaches great importance to respecting the privacy of users visiting websites in the *.uw.edu.pl domain. To provide services at the highest level, UW uses cookies[1].   • Performance cookies – collecting information on how visitors use the website.

Data Collection

The uw.edu.pl website stores HTTP requests directed to our server. The following information is stored in server log files:

  • public IP address of the computer from which the request was made,
  • name of the client station,
  • number of bytes sent by the server,
  • URL of the page previously visited by the user,
  • information about the user's browser,
  • information about errors that occurred during HTTP transaction processing.

Data Usage

Collected logs are stored for an indefinite period as auxiliary material for website administration. The information contained in them is not disclosed to anyone other than authorized personnel responsible for website administration.

Data Protection Officer

The administrator has appointed a Data Protection Officer, who can be contacted via email at: iod@adm.uw.edu.pl.

Purposes and Legal Basis of Processing

Personal data is processed for the following purposes:

  • to communicate with users – Article 6(1)(c) of the GDPR[2],
  • to improve service quality – Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR,
  • to send newsletters – Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR,
  • to include users in a mailing list for the media – Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR.

Processing is necessary to fulfill the legal obligations of the administrator[3].

Consent to the processing of personal data can be withdrawn at any time by sending an email to: redakcja.www@uw.edu.pl. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

Recipients of Personal Data

Authorized employees and associates of the University of Warsaw will have access to your personal data. Data may also be transferred to entities commissioned by the administrator to perform specific tasks that require data processing.

Data Retention Period

Data will be stored until the purpose for which it was collected is fulfilled, and subsequently in accordance with applicable archiving laws.

Rights Related to Data Processing

Users have the right to:

  • access their data and receive a copy,
  • rectify (correct) their personal data,
  • restrict data processing,
  • request data deletion (subject to Article 17(3) of the GDPR),
  • lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office.

Obligation to Provide Data and Consequences of Not Providing It

Providing data is mandatory when required by law. In the case of processing based on consent, providing data is voluntary, and failure to provide it may hinder achieving certain objectives.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

The privacy policy may be updated to ensure current and accurate information. Any changes will be published on this page.
